The Manchester United midfielder isn’t taking the threat posed by Celta Vigo lightly ahead of their Europa League semi-final
Ander Herrera has warned Manchester United that Celta Vigo will be difficult Europa League semi-final opponents.
The Spain international is no stranger to taking on Celta Vigo during his spell at Real Zaragoza and Athletic Bilbao.
Herrera moved to Manchester United in the 2014 summer transfer window under the management of Louis van Gaal.
However, the midfielder has really flourished since Jose Mourinho took over the reins at Old Trafford at the end of the 2015-16 season.
Herrera has won the FA Cup and the EFL Cup during his three-year career ahead of their Europa League semi-final clash.
Looking ahead to Manchester United’s clash against the La Liga outfit in the last four, Herrera issued a warning about Celta Vigo.
“We also have the Europa League, which is a competition that makes me very excited because I lost the final three or four years ago and I want to take that knife from my back,” Herrera told Man United’s website.
“So hopefully we can fight for that title as well, but I know Celta Vigo are very good. They are a very difficult team.”
Herrera scored Manchester United’s second goal in a 2-0 win against Premier League leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Red Devils were 3-2 winners against Southampton in the EFL Cup final at Wembley back in February.
Manchester United are in fifth place in the Premier League table.
